PokerStars to Launch Run It Twice Feature

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker room, has decided to introduce Run It Twice, a brand new feature that will allow players to view and play two different hand results.

The new feature was first discussed at TwoPlusTwo.com, the popular online poker forum, where poker players discuss anything to do with poker. A TwoPlusTwo.com member had noticed that PokerStars has recently introduced a Run It Twice option, available through the online poker room’s test client lobby. He started a thread on it and PokerStars spokesperson Stefan replied that the feature is new and is not yet functional, but will soon be made available to players.

He said, “There is no timetable at this point that we can share. We actually expect a prototype on TestPokerStars to be available later in August for player testing (subject to changes). Based on stability of the feature it might be released soon to main clients or might stay on TestPokerStars only for a longer period of time.”

Full Tilt Poker players might remember that the online poker room had a similar feature for its high stakes games, enabling poker players to view the flop, the turn, and the river twice. The concept had become very popular in TV poker shows such as Poker After Dark. When players hit the Run It Twice button, the jackpot is split between players who win each version of the hand. If a single player wins both the versions, he/she will receive the entire jackpot.

The Run It Twice feature is not new. In April 2008, Merge Gaming introduced it for its skins and called it Deal It Twice; and a year later, Full Tilt Poker introduced the feature into its software. Players could enable Run It Twice through the menu options just before the hand was dealt.

Carbon Poker, which runs on the Merge Gaming Network, still offers Deal It Twice. Carbon Poker also happens to be one of the few online poker rooms that still accept players from the US and also provide plenty of banking options for US players. Poker players at Carbon Poker can permanently disable the Deal It Twice feature if they do not like it. Only those players who have activated the Deal It Twice feature will be prompted to decide after they go all-in.

Recently, PokerStars signed a settlement deal with the US federal government, as a result of which it acquired Full Tilt Poker. PokerStars plans to re-launch Full Tilt Poker as a separate brand in November. Most probably, the online poker room wants to introduce the Run It Twice feature into its software before re-launching Full Tilt Poker.

PokerStars offer more online poker games and tournaments than any other online poker room in the industry. Players can choose from popular poker variants such as Badugi, Omaha, Texas Hold’em, and Stud and play either for free or for real money, making PokerStars a great place for poker beginners. The online poker room runs on sophisticated software and offers 24/7 customer care service.
