Victor Ramdin Wants To Win His First WSOP Bracelet

For a poker player, winning a World Series of Poker gold bracelet is a lot like winning an Oscar. Some are in it for the money, some for the glory and some for both. Whatever their story is, most poker players would agree that it is not about what you win, but how much you stake to win it.

Victor Ramdin, is a poker professional mentored by the great Phil Ivey; however, he has been cashing in but never hitting the big championship titles. This year, he got very lucky and almost scored a win at the World Series of Poker 2012; but although he took in a good portion of the poker prize money, he did not quite get the title. The gold bracelet that he wanted to secured for his trouble and make him a very happy man escaped his reach, this time.

Born as Anand Mahendra Ramdin in Georgetown, Guyana, Ramdin spent most of his life at Bronx and subsequently came to be named as Victor Ramdin. Having watched people play poker in a bar, Ramdin showed an interest to learn and was then mentored by Phil Ivey. By December 2002, Ramdin had already established himself as a tournament player and then set his eyes on the World Series of Poker gold. It is quite likely that if he were ever questioned on what meant more to him – the bracelet or the money – he would probably claim it was the bracelet. The one thing that has eluded him for over a decade has been the WSOP bracelet. This is notwithstanding his huge winnings over the years, which amounts to more than $400,000 at the WSOP.

Ramdin made it to the final table of $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout again and although the player has on several occasions made it to the final table, he did not manage to secure a bracelet, although he believed he was very close to it recently. Although, the opportunity to win the bracelet fell through the cracks and slipped his fingers, Ramdin has chosen to remain confident and may try again considering that this was a reasonably close call.

It remains to be seen if Ramdin will compete in another World Series of Poker shootout and if he will turn out to be lucky this time around which would certainly give him his first WSOP bracelet. However, a win wouldn’t earn him the kind of cash you would expect, but to him it would be the least of his priorities.

Ramdin not only plays with poker but also makes bets with other things; the player has been known to have made a bet regarding weight loss and ended up losing 30 pounds just waging the bet.

With an attitude like this, the PokerStars pro is certainly a power player. However, he is surely not as lucky or as skilled as his mentor Phil Ivey and may have some more strategies to learn.
