PokerStars Is Now Home To Phil Ivey as “RaiseOnce”

Phil Ivey, one of the most well known poker players in the industry, had been on the down low, ever since the closure of the Full Tilt Poker site. However, recent news reports reveal that Phil Ivey has not been all that far away from the poker tables, but instead has been playing poker at the online poker room – PokerStars. Ivey did not use his real name but instead used the handle “RaiseOnce”.

Initially, there had been rumors about the possibility of RaiseOnce being Phil Ivey, once it was noted that the online poker player was getting involved in the very high stakes poker games at the site. The playing of style of RaiseOnce was also something that created attention, as the player attempted several types of poker games like Triple Draw, No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em, H.O.R.S.E, 8-game and Pot Limit Omaha and used a very aggressive and high betting style as Phil Ivey has been known to do. RaiseOnce was also noted to have been playing both full ring game and short handed poker games. The RaiseOnce poker account at PokerStars has been going since 2009 and had always been a curiosity on account of the fact that the mysterious poker player was a high stakes roller; however, the sudden splurge of activity on the profile, raised suspicion and all signs pointed to Phil Ivey.

The playing styles of the 2 players were very similar and it was noted that RaiseOnce did not attempt several poker tables at a time, but only took one or two and played short sessions, leaving after two buy-ins. The player has been piling up cash at PokerStars to the tune of $353,816.

Ivey’s identity as the player “RaiseOnce” at PokerStars was not confirmed by the player himself but rather by WickedChopsInsider who revealed and confirmed that RaiseOnce was in fact Phil Ivey. However, WickedChopsInsider did not name his source but claimed that his source had verified Ivey’s identity as RaiseOnce. In his article, WickedChopsInsider states, “File this under ‘unshocking,’ but we’ve confirmed through sources that RaiseOnce on PokerStars is in fact Phil Ivey”.

The poker player was a part of and sponsor of the Full Tilt Poker site and had been associated with the brand for many years. Surprisingly, if WickedChopsInsider is correct, then it would mean that Phil Ivey had also been playing at PokerStars under the handle of RaiseOnce while sponsoring Full Tilt Poker. The player RaiseOnce had played and won games at PokerStars since 2009 and even had a noted win at the World Championship of Online Poker in 2010.

“Back in 2010 when Full Tilt Poker was still actually in business, RaiseOnce won a WCOOP event on PokerStars for $348,750. RaiseOnce’s identity has been speculated to be Ivey for awhile, and we can now confirm it is,” added WickedChopsInsider.

Phil Ivey is a world renowned poker professional and has been called the “Tiger Woods of Poker.” Ivey is a skilled player and has won 8 World Series of Poker bracelets, along with one World Poker Tour championship.
