PokerStars Launches $67,500 Freeroll Tournament Series

PokerStars, in collaboration with PokerNetwork, has launched a promotion, in which players stand the chance of winning their share of $67,500. Called the $67,500 PokerStars PokerNews Freeroll Series, a small portion of the promotion has already been completed. The first of the total 12 $5k freerolls comprising the series has already been played and time to qualify for the second freeroll has already ended, but players have ample time to qualify for the other 10 tournaments of the series as the promotion comes to an end only on May 8.

New as well as existing PokerStars players can take part in this promotion, as long as they sign up through links provided by PokerNetwork or PokerNews and input their marketing codes.

Players who do not have a PokerStars account, but want to take part in this promotion must first sign up for real play and then make their first deposit during a qualification period. New customers can also claim a fabulous welcome bonus of 100% up to $600 on their initial deposit amount. Players must also make sure that they input the bonus code STARS600 and the marketing code POKERNETWORK to become eligible to claim the welcome bonus and take part in the freeroll series promotion, respectively.

Existing customers, who have deposited funds into their PokerStars account, have to collect 25 VPPs through real money play during one qualification period to gain eligibility to take part in the next $5k freeroll.

The entire schedule for the rest of the freeroll tournaments in the $67,500 PokerStars PokerNews series is available on the PokerStars website. Throughout the promotion, players can win their share of $5k plus earn leader board points. The top 30 players of each weekly $5k freeroll will receive anywhere between 5 and 100 points, depending on where they finish. The 15 players who collect the largest number of points throughout the promotion will get a share of $7,500. The terms and conditions of the promotion, and exactly how much each player will win, are available on the PokerStars website.

The first freeroll was held on Feb 13, attracting a field of 1,978 players. As many as 396 players received cash prizes, the smallest cash prize that was paid out being $2.85. The first player to fold on the final table won $42.40 while the champion of the event won the largest prize of $787.50. The winner of the Feb 13 freeroll was rolfjuunjor, a poker player from Estonia, who had to defeat Ukrainian player Spany_LuckofUkraine in a heads up match to win the first prize and 100 points.
