Party Poker Launches New Poker Championship for November

Party Poker, one of the most reputed online poker site sin the industry recently announced that it would be launching a poker championship along with Matchroom Sport. This new poker tourney from Party Poker will function as an extension to the already existing Premier League events. The new event will be called the Party Poker Premier League Poker Mixed Game Championship and is to be held in London next month.

According to Party Poker, the Premier League Poker Mixed Game Championship has been scheduled to be held from the 13th of November 2011 to the 17th of November 2011. The event will take place at the Playboy Club in London and is expected to draw a good crowd.

The special poker tournament will be broadcast by Sky Sports so that poker fans all over the UK can follow it. According to the set up of the Premier League Poker Mixed Game Championship, players will have to try their luck at 2 forms of Texas Hold’em poker games and one type of Omaha poker. This includes No-Limit Texas Hold’em poker and Pot Limit Texas Hold’em poker alongside Pot Limit Omaha poker. Once the show is aired in the UK it will then be redistributed for world wide broadcasting.

The events will see 12 top poker players go against each other to see who emerges as the ultimate champion. So far, we have Mike Sexton, and the crazy Tony G already enlisted for the top 12. Tony G appears to be very excited about this event and has stated: “I cannot wait – I am going to take everything they have. I am going to mix the mixed game up and put on a show!”

Sexton also seems to be looking forward to the event and the excitement may be catching. “I think it’s fantastic that games other than No Limit Hold’em are going to get TV exposure. Poker is more than one game. This is a bold move, but a good one,” Sexton said.

UK Poker players like Luke Schwartz and Sam Trickett are also part of the Premier League Poker Mixed Game Championship group which will have buy-ins of $25k. The $25k Mixed Game Championship will see two sets of 6 players going against each other until the field narrows down to the top three. The main event of this poker tourney is a guaranteed event and along with the prize money, the winning player will also be awarded entry to the PartyPoker.com Premier League.

After the three heats, players will also face a double up round where they can opt to use a special “double up” card in nay one of their events and double their points. According to Eddie Hearn, the Managing Director of Matchroom Sport, “With the Mixed Game Championship the format offers the viewer games that they rarely see on TV. It is also a great test for the players too, taking them out of their comfort-zone and watching them compete in three different disciplines will be compelling viewing.”
