Laak Emerges Victorious at Party Poker Big Game

Phil “The Unabomber” Laak made the entire online poker gaming community groan when he got too sleepy and lost a whopping jackpot of €60,000, but delighted his fans when he ended up as the champion of the televised Party Poker Big Game, collecting a cool prize of €160,100.

The Unabomber is widely appreciated for the fact that he can play poker for long hours without collapsing, but he showed signs of fatigue when he mucked up a hand worth more than €60,000.

The Party Poker Big Game is a televised poker cash game that continues for 48 hours. Party Poker organized the fourth edition of this event at the Montensino Casino in Vienna on April 11 – 13. Phil Laak might have goofed up during the initial phases of this game, but he was the only player who remained playing at the tables throughout the tournament, which lasted 48 hours.

The minimum buy-in of the Party Poker Big Game, which started sharp at 18:01 CET, was €5,000 and its maximum buy-in was €20,000. Other features of this mega ring game included a €100 optional straddle and table blind limits of €25/€50.

The cash game began with reputed professional poker players such as Phil Laak, Daniel Cates, Iliodorous Kamatakis, Bertrand Grospellier, Ignat Liviu, Alec Torelli, Sam Trickett, and Eugene Katchalov at the table.

Shortly into the game, spectators noticed that Laak, widely acclaimed for his poker endurance, appeared drowsy and tired. Laak’s opponent at the time was Andrew Mosley, who made a move that cost Laak a huge pot worth €63,750. Laak fans were upset for a long time and new reports on poker portals spoke of how this incident serves as a lesson for players who choose to play poker for long breaks and conveys the message that players cannot afford to lose their mental alertness even for a moment.

However, “The Unabomber” delighted his fans by emerging victorious at the end of the 48-hour game and collecting a huge prize of €160,100, an amount far greater than the prize won by his major opponent Mosley.

These are the results of the Big Game: the top three winners are Phil Laak, Andy Mosely, and J. P. Kelly. The top three loses of the game are Daniel Cates, Mike Sexton, and Sorel Mizzi. Of the total number of 32 players who participated in this televised cash game, three players went broke and 2 were voted off by spectators. Ingnat Liviu, who was voted off, managed to win a cool sum of €33,075 before quitting the game.

Phil “The Unabomber” Laak is one of the most favorite professional poker players of the poker gaming community. He is known for his eccentric ways and his love for the limelight. He surprised everybody by arriving for a live poker tournament wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses and explained that he had been drinking heavily the previous night and did not want anybody to know.

Laak is currently a resident of California and the host of Hollywood Hold’em on E! TV Channel.
