Kirsty Buttle Wins Women’s Sunday Poker Championship
Kirsty Buttle has turned out to be the champion of the Women’s Sunday tournament and has collected the first place prize of $2,259.83. She adopted a strategy of cutting off with respectable hands and opening buttons so that she could beat opponents who pushed against her. Her aggressive style worked well for her and got her the championship title.
Kirsty’s father taught her poker when she was a girl of fifteen, which greatly attracted her to the game. Three years later, she got a chance to work in a gambling environment and she took this as an opportunity to learn more about the game. But Kirsty doesn’t play poker full time as she spends most of her time serving as the deputy manager of a women’s apparel store in Harrogate. Besides, she does a bit of modeling in her spare time.

Kirsty is aware that poker success requires plenty of hard work, but she takes it all in stride. Admitting that she had picked up a number of tips watching live EPT videos, she said: “Not seeing the cards allows me to be able to think strategically and work out possible hands from the action that has happened.” She also discusses poker hands and poker strategies with her friends in a bid to pick newer strategies.
According to Kirsty, her boyfriend, who plays at PokerStars under the moniker “Vincollo,” has “revolutionized” her style of playing poker. She says: “He has taught me things that make me think completely differently about the way I play. Check-shoving, delayed c-bets, analyzing ranges, and deciphering what my opponents could have based on the action… He constantly evolves my game, making me a stronger, confident, and more aggressive poker player.”
Kirsty, who usually plays open poker games, says: “Playing with men allows me to utilize stereotypes about women, like that we’re timid and don’t open light. Men don’t like being beaten by girls, especially younger ones, so they play back a lot more. It’s easier to get paid.” Opining that playing with women is tougher, she said: “It’s harder to put women on a hand, as their ranges of hands are much wider, but there isn’t as much betting.”
Kirsty’s modeling friends admit that they cannot imagine her as a poker player, but her presence, both at offline and online poker tables, can perturb opponents. Though not one of those top-earning pros, she can be quite formidable simply because she loves the game.
