Full Tilt Poker Announces Onyx Cup Series with $30 Million Prize Pool

Full Tilt Poker recently announced their brand new Onyx Cup, which is a series of high roller poker tourneys that has made the poker community breathless with excitement.

The Onyx Cup will feature a series of 6 high-stake and high buy-in live poker tournaments, which are scheduled to be played around Europe, Asia, and America; it promises to be one of the most lucrative live poker event in the world. The buy-ins for these tournaments range from $100k to $250k and the total prize pool is a staggering $30 million. The Onyx Cup Series champion will receive a trophy, a share of $30 million, and a sparkling new luxury sports car. The dramatic event will be televised in 10 languages through 40 television networks worldwide and will utilize a leader board, which makes it all the more challenging.

Full Tilt Poker will award points on the basis of player performance during each live tournament; and players must earn the largest number of points during the first 5 live tournaments to qualify for the sixth, the Grand Finale with a buy-in of $250k, which is scheduled to be held in Dec 2011. The first live poker event of the Onyx Cup Series will be held at Las Vegas from May 1st and go on until the 12th; it will feature a buy-in of $100k. The second tournament will be held at Las Vegas on July 7th and 8th for a buy-in of $100k.
