Durrrr Challenge Makes Dwan Top Loser and Cates Biggest Winner of the Week

A large number of six-figure jackpots highlighted Full Tilt Poker’s high-stakes tables recently. The high-stakes event called “Durrrr Challenge” has established Tom “durrrr” Dwan as the top loser of the week and Daniel “jungleman12” Cates as the top winner. Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and Gus Hansen played a high-stakes match Monday for some colossal pots.

Durrrr Challenge – Cates Ahead

Dwan and Cates played another “Durrrr Challenge” session today, and Dwan had already informed his fans via a tweet on Twitter that he was about to have another “short session” with jungleman12 on Full Tilt Poker. Cates held on to his lead position consistently throughout the No Limit Texas Hold’em “Durrrr Challenge.” The duo played 1,099 hands yesterday and Cates won around $39k. Today, the duo completed 19,335 and has a long way to go before they complete the 50,000 required to end the challenge. Cates, who is in the lead by $1.25 million, posted a tweet stating that they may play later although they did not. If fact, Cates has been in the lead ever since they completed 3000 hands.

Posters on Two Plus Two Forum are absolutely sure that Dwan is digging his own grave. Some of them are even suggesting that he call off the challenge. As one of the posters puts it, the poker gaming community sees no hope for Dwan since Cates is winning all the pots and is “just too good.”

Galfond vs. Hansen

Hansen’s recent poker success has attracted the attention of the poker gaming community; however, this does not mean that Galfond has not won his share of the pots. The $300/$600 PLO tournament at Full Tilt Poker between Galfond and Hansen turned out to be a very dramatic event. During the first phase of the tournament, the cards were all in favor of Hansen and it certainly looked as if he was going to win; however, things changed during the later phases of the tournament, with Galfond winning the $133,200 jackpot.

Hansen vs. NoPasaran

Hansen had yet another $300/$600 PLO battle against the quiet and unassuming NoPasaran, who actually won a match against XWINK a few weeks back. During the tournament, NoPasaran’s actions reflected the fact that he disliked being bet into. When Hansen called for $18,000, NoPasaran re-raised, making it $72,000. This match however ended in Hansen’s favor, adding another $114,188 to his bankroll.

This makes Daniel “jungleman12” Cates, Seb86, Rui Cao, kagome kagome, and Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo the top winners of week beginning March 25 and ending March 28, with Cates winning over $291k and Bonomo winning $113k. The biggest losers of the week are Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Niki Jedlicka, Patrik Antonius, and Ilari “Ilari Fin” Sahamies, with Dwan being in the red for $546k.

The top winners of the year are Gus Hansen, Cates, Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane, Matt Hawrilenko, Abe “EazyPeazy” Mosseri, and Phil Ivey. Gus Hansen’s total winnings are $4,593,000. The top losers of the year are Tom “durrr” Dwan, who is in the red for $1,914,000, followed by kagome kagome, fishosaurusREX, UarePileous, and cadillac1994.
