David Chiu Wins Fifth WSOP Bracelet

The heads-up match of the final table of the $2,500 buy-in Seven Card Stud tournament was played between David Chiu, who had won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet four times, and Scott Seiver, a young poker player who is yet to make his mark in the poker gaming world.

Fortune has favored a large number of young and inexperienced poker players during this year’s WSOP, but this time, Lady Luck favored Chiu, who ultimately won the fifth WSOP gold bracelet of his career along with a first place prize of $145,520. His latest poker achievements made him the 11th player in the very history of the WSOP to win five bracelets. Seiver, who had already won a WSOP title in the past, emerged as the runner-up of the event and won a second place prize of $89,980.

Most people are of the opinion that winning comes easily to those who have won four WSOP bracelets, but Chiu had to literally fight for his championship title as the final table featured a number of talented poker players.

The final table of the Seven Card Stud tournament had a total of 8 poker players, who among them had won a total of 12 WSOP gold bracelets and millions of dollars in tournament winnings. Among the finalists were Adam Friedman, winner of a WSOP gold bracelet; Gary Benson, winner of a WSOP gold bracelet; Frank Kassela, winner of 2 WSOP gold bracelets and WSOP Player of the Year 2010; David Chiu, winner of 4 WSOP gold bracelets, and Michael Mizrachi, winner of 3 WSOP gold bracelets.

Besides, Matthew Ashton, another finalist, had made it to a WSOP final table for the third time this summer. He finished in the seventh place and, along with David Baker, became the player who reached the final table the largest number of times.

Mizrachi, who had won a gold bracelet every year four times, was aiming to achieve the ranks of players such as Bill Boyd and Doyle Brunson, but finished fourth. Freddie Ellis had high hopes of winning the Seven Card Stud tournament for the second time, having won it once in 2009, but finished third instead.

The Seven Card Stud tournament attracted a field of 246 players, who generated a total prize pool worth $559,650. The players who finished in the top 32 positions won cash prizes, the smallest prize being $3,889. Those who finished in the cash were Daniel Negreanu, who finished 26th; Mike Sexton, who finished 13th; Andre Akkari, who finished 17th; and Jesse Martin, who finished 10th.

The final table results are as follows: The champion David Chiu won $145,520 and runner-up Scott Seiver won $89,980. The players who finished third and fourth were Freddie Ellis and Michael Mizrachi, who won $59,127 and $43,188, respectively. The players who finished fifth and sixth were Frank Kassela and Gary Benson, who won $31,978 and $24,003, respectively. The players who finished seventh and eighth were Matthew Ashton and Adam Friedman, who won $18,266 and $14,086, respectively.
