Real Money Poker on Blackberry

You can do everything on a blackberry… right? You can send and receive text messages and calls, you can surf the internet and fiddle around with different apps.  Is it really a good idea to try to play real money poker on a blackberry?  I don’t think so.

Playing real money poker online is tough enough.  Competition is fierce and even if you do everything perfectly it is still really easy to lose money.  Playing on a blackberry, for real money at least, is a horrible idea.  If you are playing real money poker on a blackberry instead of a laptop or desktop, you are probably in an environment that is not suitable for poker.  You always want to play in the right conditions online.  You want to be awake, alert, and unbothered by your surroundings.  This can make the difference between break even poker and profitable poker over the long term.  The size of a blackberry depends on the exact model that you choose, but on average it will be just 320 pixels by 240.  Do you really want to risk any of your money on a device that is that small? I know I have a hard time risking any of my money playing real money poker in the first place.

The next best thing to playing real money poker is playing poker with play money.  It might not be as exciting, but it is the obvious choice.  There are two apps out their available for the blackberry.  They both cost $6.99 and you can only play poker for fun on them, but they are a nice substitute for playing real money poker.  The first app is called: World Series of Poker: Holdem Legend [Link: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/3523].  I do not have a blackberry, so I cannot give any official advice, but everything that I have heard about this app is top notch.  It is safe to say that this will be worth the 7 dollars that you pay for it.  There are single player modes and a multiplayer mode.  The single player mode is great, but apparently the multiplayer mode is virtually worthless, you have to have at least 5 players so that makes it nearly impossible to get a game going.

The second most popular poker blackberry app is World Poker Tour 2- Texas Hold Em. I have heard great reviews about this app as well.  There is a career mode and a multiplayer mode so the game play is as in depth as anything you will find.  These apps do require a lot of power, so you can expect our blackberry to lag every now and then, but that is a small price to pay for being able to play legitimate Hold Em poker on your blackberry.

Whatever you do, just do not try to play real money poker on your blackberry, I am not sure if it is even possible actually, most poker websites will not allow you to join a table on a blackberry, even if you can find a way to do so, abstain.
