WSOP.com Beats Rival Ultimate Poker

Although WSOP.com was launched five months after Ultimate Poker, its one and only rival in Nevada, it has already pulled itself ahead of Ultimate Poker as far as player traffic is concerned. PokerScout.com reported that WSOP.com beat Ultimate Poker this week by getting a seven-day average of more than 130 players. On the other hand, player traffic at Ultimate Poker has fallen to less than 120 players.

It is being widely speculated that this difference in traffic is because of the superior software platform that WSOP.com runs on. Players at WSOP.com are satisfied with the gaming experience and have been heard to comment that WSOP.com’s software is much better than that of Ultimate Poker. On the other hand, players at Ultimate Poker have often complained that the software crashes frequently throughout the day, preventing players from multi-tabling for a long time.

Software is not the only factor responsible for the rapid growth of WSOP.com. Recently, the online poker room launched Action Club, a superior loyalty program, enabling Action Club members to earn multipliers. However, a few players still feel that the loyalty program at Ultimate Poker is much better, although it is true that WSOP.com’s loyalty program has helped boost player traffic.

Besides, WSOP.com recently concluded its Online Championships, an event that attracted a large number of players to the site. The Online Championships became very successful because as much as $500k was added to the prize pot.

WSOP.com had also launched a generous first depositors’ cash match bonus of 100 percent up to $400, which helped increase player traffic to the site. Although Ultimate Poker has a first depositors’ bonus, the maximum that players can claim is $50.

The fact that the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2013 concluded its main event recently has made WSOP.com more popular than ever, especially as ESPN 2 and ESPN had covered the event live.

WSOP.com now plans to run online qualifier satellites to its live events, which will help boost player traffic to the site. It may be recalled that poker player Nick Rosen took part in a $215 mega satellite and won a seat worth €10,450 to the WSOP Europe 2013 Main Event. If players want to win free tickets to prestigious events such as WSOP Las Vegas, WSOP Circuit, and WSOP 2014 Asia Pacific, the best option for them is to register at WSOP.com.

Both Ultimate Poker and WSOP.com benefit a lot by each other’s presence. The presence of a competitor does go a long way in helping an online poker room perform better. Players no longer have to rely on only one other poker room for their poker gaming requirements; they now have the freedom to choose between two online poker sites.

If interstate online compacts are signed among US states that have legalized online poker, US online poker is going to boom because of shared player pools. However, if this does not happen, the poker sites may not be able to generate the required revenue and be forced to shut down.
