Iowa Player Terry King Wins MSPT Meskwaki Main Event

Terry King, a poker player from Durant in Iowa, is the champion of the main event of the Meskwaki leg of the PokerNews Mid States Poker Tour (MSPT). He received the first place cash prize of $87,694, including the RF Moeller championship diamond bracelet.

The MSPT has stopped at Meskwaki in Iowa four times. Over the years, the event has become very popular and the latest edition drew a player field of 342, ensuring that the tour would visit Meskwaki many more times in future.

The final table results are as follows: As the last man standing, Terry King of Iowa collected the first place prize of $87,694. The runner-up of the event Nick Jivkov won the second place prize of $47,983. The players who finished third and fourth were Kevin Boskey and Dominic Giarango, who won $31,768 and $21,510, respectively. The players who finished fifth and sixth were Doyle Elwell and Dave Gonia, who finished $16,546 and $13,237, respectively. The players who finished seventh, eighth, and ninth were Eric Loehr, Mark Sandness, and Blair Hinkle, who won $11,582, $9,928, and $8,273, respectively.

The final table was quite possibly the toughest in the history of the MSPT. The players who reached the final table were some of the best. Blair Hinkle has won more than $1.5 million playing live poker tournaments; besides, he has also bagged a WSOP gold bracelet. Nick Jivkov is also the winner of a WSOP bracelet and twice winner of a WSOP Circuit ring. David Gonia has won more than $94,000 playing live poker tournaments; besides, he also won an MSPT bracelet while playing at Runner Aces Harness Park in January. Other notable players of the final table were Blake Bohn, who won a cash prize of $288,171 after emerging as the champion of the main event of the Chicago Poker Classic. Professional poker players Eric Loehr and Mark Sandness were also at the final table.

Terry King defeated Jivkov after playing a tough heads-up match against him. For his achievement, he won a huge first place prize and the prestigious diamond bracelet. King’s MSPT win is his biggest poker achievement so far. On the other hand, Jivkov won the third largest prize of his poker career, and his total live poker tournament winnings so far have exceeded $500,000.

King played quietly and carefully at the final table, making small bets and winning almost every pot he was associated with. He was blessed with incredible luck throughout the final table action, getting the very best cards and eliminating a number of finalists till he was into the heads-up with Jivkov, and when the heads-up match began, King had the larger stack.

The MSPT, which will head over to Canterbury Park in Minnesota and remain there from April 20 to April 28, expects to attract a record number of players in Minnesota. The tour will return to Meskwaki twice this year, and its next Meskwaki leg, which promises a guaranteed prize of $300k, will be held from July 20 to July 28.
