Southwest Poker News Merges with Ante Up Magazine

According to a recent announcement, Southwest Poker News will merge with Ante Up to create a larger Ante Up poker magazine, which will churn out 40,000 copies for over 280 casinos all over the country.

The companies behind the two magazines, Arizona Poker News LLC and Ante Up Poker Media LLC, announced that Ante Up, YOUR Poker Magazine, a national publication focusing on poker, will merge with Southwest Poker News, a poker magazine focusing on poker issues in Southwestern states such as New Mexico and Arizona, with effect from February 2014. Accordingly, the Feb 2014 issue of Ante Up will be a combination of Ante Up and Southwest Poker News.

Speaking about the merger, Scott Long, publisher of Ante Up, YOUR Poker Magazine and Ante Up Poker Media LLC, said: “We’re excited to welcome Southwest Poker News’ readers and advertisers to Ante Up. Our combined forces will further cement Ante Up as the nation’s leading poker publication, and the potential for future growth is endless.”

Christopher Cronin, who founded Southwest Poker News and Arizona Poker News LLC, will serve as the sales director for Ante Up Poker Media LLC and will have his offices in Phoenix. He will, however, continue to be the owner of Southwest Poker News and Arizona Poker News LLC.

Speaking about the merger, Cronin said: “I really feel that the hard work and dedication from myself and my staff has been recognized, and we look forward to bringing our readers the same great coverage on a much larger scale. I am also very thankful for the advertising partners who have remained loyal, and made it possible to bring the poker players of the Southwest all of your poker news each month. Scott Long and Chris Cosenza are great guys and we share the common goal of becoming the #1 media source for every poker player.” Cosenza, along with Long, is the founder of Ante Up Poker Media LLC.

As per the terms of the partnership, the number of Ante Up copies printed per month will go up to 40,000, and these copies will be distributed to over 280 live poker rooms and casinos all over the country. The page count of the merged magazine will also be increased as it will cover poker news from Southwestern states.

Besides, Southwest Poker News journalists will provide poker news from Southwestern regions for Ante Up. Jon Zaun, Brian Pedersen, Hans Hollenbeck, and John Short will cover poker news from Phoenix, Tucson, Colorado, and Southern Oklahoma, respectively. Donovan Livingstone will not only cover New Mexico poker news, but also write features. Sean Hansen and Mark Brement will become strategy columnists at Ante Up.

According to Long, Southwest Poker News has been a major source of news in New Mexico, Arizona, and other southwestern states for the past three years. He said: “With Chris Cronin now on our team, Ante Up looks forward to continuing that great work and giving the players and casinos in that region the national exposure that they so richly deserve.”
