Shaun Deeb Wins Fifth SCOOP Championship

Shaun Deeb,a member of PocketFives.com, who plays at PokerStars.com under the moniker shaundeeb, stunned the online poker gaming community by emerging as the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) champion for the fifth time. In an interview with PocketFives.com, Deeb said, “Once I get deep, I just known I’m going to win. I have the craziest confidence that I’ll make the right decisions and not get coolered or bad-beated.”

Deeb was playing the thirty-eighth event of SCOOP, a high-stakes HORSE online tournament with a buy-in of $2,100, when he won the championship. Top professional poker players such as Dylan Linde, winner of the PocketFives Triple Crown, Jonathan Aguiar, Andrey Zaya Zaichenko of Russia, Jon Spinks of UK, and George Lind were at the final table.

Deeb plays an excellent game of HORSE. Speaking about his HORSE success, he said, “I play a lot of Eight Game, so playing HORSE is an easy adjustment. I obviously had some key hands when I was short-stacked, but once I got chips, I never really lost two big pots back-to-back; I just kept stealing and building.”

Early on the morning of Sunday, Deeb began as the chip leader of the final table. Interested poker players can read about the final hand at the PokerStars Blog. Expressing his opinions of the final table of the thirty-eighth event of SCOOP, Deeb says that a lot of them played a tight game of poker, enabling him to steal a lot as he knew that they hardly played back. Lind’s performance at the final table was impressive, he said while admitting that he had underestimated Lind, believing that he used to play the hypers and satellites to collect VPPs.

Deeb’s fifth SCOOP victory had filled the forums at PocketFives.com with great excitement, and online poker players already feel that Deeb’s chances of winning a bracelet at the World Series of Poker are quite high. Deeb is not just good at HORSE; he has shown exceptional talent for sports such as Triple Stud, Stud, and Stud High Low when he was playing the SCOOP two years back. Deeb won his first SCOOP championship title in 2010 when he was playing a PL Omaha tournament.

Deeb is now making preparations for the WSOP, which is scheduled to begin the following weekend in Rio, Las Vegas. Talking about the WSOP, he said, “The WSOP is just the end boss of the year, and being close to so many people who have had great WSOPs in the last few years, I want to join them.”

Deeb has collected a cool prize of $46,000 after winning the SCOOP event of this year. He has also won a trophy and a prize package for the 2013 European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final.

Jon Spinks finished second and won $31,450, Dylan Linde finished third and won $23,800, BiatchPeople finished fourth and won $16,150, Andrey Zaya finished fifth and won $11,900, Sivokhan finished sixth and won $8,925, Jonathan Anguiar finished seventh and won $7,225, and George Lind finished eighth and won $5,525.
