SA Poker Players Who Performed Well in SAPT Events

People associated with poker, including players, fans, and newcomers to the game, always want to know who the best poker players are. The best way to answer this question is to study the results of various poker tournaments and find out who has performed consistently well. Now that the first season of the South African Poker Tour (SAPT) has begun, interested poker fans can find out which poker players occupy the top ranks and how often they win cash prizes in local poker tournaments.

The SAPT comprises poker tournaments, which are held at prominent casinos such as Gold Reef City, Silverstar Casino, The Royal Swazi Spa, and The Montecasino. The poker players who emerge as the top twenty of these events will get the opportunity to play for the championship title and the first-place prize of R250,000. This unbelievable prize is the sum of contributions from Ace High Poker, the organizers of SAPT, and deductions made from the prize pools of each SAPT event.

Here is a list of top ten players, compiled on the basis of their performance in 11 SAPT tournaments, along with a brief list of their accomplishments. Muaaz Gani occupies the first rank, having won cash at Royal Swazi twice and finished at the final tables of five of the remaining nine tournaments. Alvin Pillay occupies the second rank as he finished as the runner-up at Silverstar, second at Royal Swazi, and third at Gold Reef City. Daniel Lamberti, who takes the third rank, was the champion of the Silverstar Poker Challenge. Besides, he finished in the cash on three different occasions.

The top fourth player is Warren Zackey, who was the champion at Royal Swazi. The top fifth player Michael Gossayn emerged as one of the top five players in three of the ten tournaments he had played. The top sixth player Lagen Zackey finished at the final tables of four of the nine tournaments he had played. The top seventh player Marc Joseph won the tournament at Royal Swazi and finished at the final tables of two tournaments.

The players who occupy the eighth, ninth, and tenth ranks are Paul Shadiack, Ray Rahme, and Emmanuel Kistan, respectively. Shadiack finished at the final tables of five tournaments, Rahme finished in the top three positions at Montecasino and Gold Reef City, and Kistan finished second at Silverstar and reached the final tables of two tournaments.

Interestingly, none of these players finish in the cash or win prizes always, but their performance is consistently good. According to poker experts, any player who finishes in the cash more than once in a series of 8 poker tournaments is playing really well. Therefore, any player who wins cash in anywhere between three and five of a total of 11 poker tournaments can be considered a top poker player.

The poker players mentioned above are not the only top poker players in South Africa. While they are doing well in local tournaments, players such as Levi Dare and Jared Solomon are doing very well in international poker tournaments.
