PokerStars Finally Launches Zoom Poker

PokerStars recently made an official announcement regarding the launch of the much awaited Zoom Poker, a new form of speed poker. This has been a long awaited introduction to this online poker room, and poker players who have sitting around hoping to see Zoom Poker go official for over two months from its testing beta mode, are sure to be very happy.

The two months saw a lot of testing over a total of 300 million Zoom Poker hands dealt since mid-March 2012. As the name suggests, Zoom Poker is PokerStars’ offering of speed or rush poker as first offered by Full Tilt Poker.

Zoom Poker is also a quick play ring game, highly similar to Full Tilt Poker’s – Rush Poker which shut down with the Full Tilt Poker site.

In Zoom Poker, a player selects a game and the stakes and starts playing. The player will see a different set of poker players who take up a seat at the table at each new game. Although this game might sound new, it is not any different from another kind of poker variant of speed poker. Poker players who are well versed with ordinary poker variants will find it easy to play Zoom Poker at this poker room. The only difference between both these games being the fast-paced challenging environment Zoom Poker provides. Poker players will be happy that instead of spending their time waiting for their online poker hand to draw to a close, you can quickly move to another table with new opponents. However, this doesn’t leave you not knowing the outcome of the hand that the player just left. Players who want to know the outcome of the end of the hand will only have to press down on the “CTRL” button while also selecting the “Fold” option.

When PokerStars began the public testing, the kinds of poker variants and stakes offered by Zoom Poker was very limited with only no limit Hold’em poker and poker games with Micro-stakes on offer. Today, PokerStars has also offered Draw Zoom Poker and Omaha poker variants in the betting range of $0.01 or $0.02 to as much as $2.50 or $5.

At a time, a player can play as many as four Zoom Parker tables simultaneously giving them the sheer joy of adrenalin pumping action.

Team PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu loves the new concept of Zoom Poker. “Zoom Poker offers people a different way to play poker. Recreational players, who want more constant action, will be able to fold instantly and wait for better hands, while pro grinders will be able to get in hundreds of more hands an hour and win more. On top of all that, it’s just so much fun to play!” he said.

PokerScout.com, a poker news site and publisher of statistics related to poker, recently announced that 25% of those playing cash game poker at PokerStars played Zoom Poker. Since Zoom Poker’s hands are about thrice as quick as the ordinary poker play, almost half of PokerStars profit lies in the power of Zoom Poker.
