Several celebrities make some time to play poker games in spite of their hectic schedules, and some of them are really talented at the game. Here is a list of some of the most talented celebrity poker players.
Jennifer Tilly, a movie star widely acclaimed for her roles in Bride of Chucky and Liar Liar, has finished in the cash more than 17 times besides winning a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 2005 in the Ladies NL Hold’em tournament. She is also the winner of the Best Celebrity Player of the Year Award, conferred by Card Player.
Patrick Bruel, a renowned French musician and actor, has finished in the cash at 10 WSOP tournaments. He also won the coveted WSOP bracelet in 1998.
Actor Gabe Kaplan took part in his first WSOP event in the year 1978. Ever since, he has finished in the cash 14 times, three times in the World Poker Tour (WPT) and nine times in the WSOP.
The beautiful Shannon Elizabeth, who became popular for the role she played in American Pie, has finished in the cash six times, one of them being at the WPT. She also made news when she defeated top poker players such as Jeff Madsen and Barry Greenstein.
James Woods, who has performed in Shark, The Onion Field, and Nixon, has finished in the cash 22 times, two times in the WPT and once in the WSOP.
Tobey Maguire, who became famous for playing the role of Spider-Man, has participated in WSOP events from 2005 to 2007. He has even been shown on ESPN playing poker. He was declared the winner of the National Championship of Poker in 2004 and has finished in the cash twice in WSOP and WPT events.
Ray Romano, the star who played Everybody Loves Raymond, has finished in the cash twice, once in the WSOP. He has also taken part in several WSOP events from 2007 to 2013. Vince Van Patten, who used to act in movies as a kid, is a professional tennis player who turned into a WPT announcer. He has finished in the cash twice in WSOP events.
Betfair, the giant poker company, says that movie star Ben Affleck, the 2004 winner of the California State Poker Championship who took home a prize of $356,400 “is rumored to be a regular in high-stakes cash games in Los Angeles.” Although he has taken part in several poker tournaments, he has finished in the cash only once.
Matt Damon, a movie star well-known for playing a role in Rounders, the popular poker film, has taken part in several WSOP tournaments. Reportedly, he was once offered a poker sponsorship deal, which he refused.
Celebrities have always been fond of poker although only a few of them play for profit. The above mentioned are not the only celebrity poker achievers. Many more celebrities such as Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer, Jason Alexander, and Nelly Furtado, the musician, are working on improving their game of poker.
