Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) Completes 10 Years

Microgaming, the giant online gambling software provider, has announced that MPN, its online poker network, has completed 10 successful years.

The MPN, which began life as Prima Poker, was later rechristened as the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN). After its establishment in March 2003, it quickly became one of the most popular online poker networks in the world. During the first few years of its existence, it incorporated a number of major poker skins and soon became the favorite online poker destination for millions of online poker players.

Throughout these ten years, the MPN has proved over and over again that it is eager for innovation and uniqueness in a bid to stay head and shoulders over its competitor networks. It was the first online poker market to roll out a unique format of online poker tournament called Survivor Tournament, a high-speed and unique format of online poker tournament, in which the player with the smallest stack of chips was repeatedly knocked off the table.

The first online poker network to roll out an Android mobile poker client, anonymous poker tables, and Blaze Poker, a high-speed variant of online poker was also MPN. Microgaming also bagged the B2B Poker Network of the Year 2011 Award, conferred by eGR in recognition and appreciation of its high-quality poker software.

During the same year, Microgaming launched the Network Management Board (NMB), a body including industry experts and operator representatives, whose objective was to guide the MPN to greater heights of poker glory. One of the biggest achievements of the MPN was True Value, an innovative methodology of rake allocation to reward those operators who reactivate and acquire players.

Today, the MPN has a large number of sophisticated online poker rooms, in addition to brand new online poker operators such as iGame Malta Limited, Betsson Poker, and Paf Poker, to mention just a few. Some of the poker skins that have been with MPN for years are 32 Red Poker, Unibet Poker, and Stan James Poker.

Lydia Melton, Microgaming’s network games head, said, “The MPN is one of poker’s best loved and longest-established networks. We’ve seen so many changes on the network and in the industry in the last ten years – the rise of regulated markets and loss of other markets, software innovation and nearly five billion hands dealt at our tables. I’m really excited about what could happen in the next ten years.”

32Red CEO Ed Ware said, “We continue to be very pleased with the poker platform provided by Microgaming and have been part of their poker network since 2003. MPN has consistently adapted to the online poker environment throughout the years and is today well positioned to continue to provide a successful poker solution.”

The MPN will release an innovative Bad Beat Jackpot, which makes it easier for players who have opted in for the Bad Beat Jackpot game to win prizes, on its 10th anniversary day.
