Major Poker Tours that Attract Poker Players

The 44th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), one of the biggest live poker tournament series in the world comprising 62 bracelet events, has now drawn to a close. The only event left is the $10k buy-in WSOP Main Event finals, which will be held in Nov 2013 in Las Vegas.

Now that the WSOP has drawn to a close, a void has been created that can be filled by poker tours that are currently in progress. Those who had taken part in WSOP events can now consider taking part in poker tours such as the European Poker Tour (EPT), World Poker Tour (WPT), and others to satisfy their craving for poker competition. Top professional poker players such as Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey are also taking part in some of these tournaments.

The WPT, which is currently in its 12th season, has an event-packed schedule. Players can therefore look forward to a number of regional, national, and main poker events in different parts of the world. The WPT has announced schedules only for its 2013 legs, so players can expect a lot more WPT action in the first half of 2014.

The new WPT season will begin in August 16 when the tour will arrive in Cyprus. The WPT Merit Cyprus Classic will be held in the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel, where Marvin Rettenmaier emerged as the first poker player to win the back-to-back WPT Main Event finals last year. The WPT will stop at several countries in Africa, US, Asia, and Europe, including St. Maarten and South Korea.

The 10th season of the EPT will begin on August 28 with the EPT Barcelona in Spain. During the last season, the EPT reduced the number of its legs to 8 in a bid to focus on regional tours and organize lengthier poker festivals. During its 10th season, the EPT will stop at places such as London, Barcelona, Bahamas, Prague, Berlin, Deauville, Monte Carlo, and San Remo.

Poker players also have the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open to look forward to. Run by Florida’s Seminole Indian Tribe, the event promises the biggest guaranteed prize. The event will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, located in Hollywood, from Aug 22 to Aug 29. Players can buy-in for $5,300 and play for a share of a $10 million prize pool. This means that a fall out can be prevented only if 2000 poker players take part in the event, but considering the size of the guaranteed prize, poker players are sure to flock to this event.

The next season of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe will be held in Paris from Oct 12 to Oct 15. With 888.com as its sponsor, the event will comprise seven bracelet events, including a high roller bracelet event. The WSOPE will be held in Casino Barriere d’Enghien-les-Bains and the buy-ins will be anywhere between €1k and €25k. PokerListings.com has announced that it will provide live coverage for the WSOPE, along with video streams and news reports.
