Lucrative Live Poker Tournaments of 2014

The New Year 2014 is full of opportunities for professional poker players, and the first major live poker event of the year, the Poker Caribbean Adventure (PCA), has already begun. Besides, players can look forward to lucrative events such as the Macau Millions, the Big One for One Drop, and the World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific, to mention just a few. The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) will not be held in 2014 so that the WSOP Asia Pacific can be held.

Here are some of the most lucrative poker events of 2014. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), which forms part of the European Poker Tour (EPT), will begin on January 5, Sunday in the Bahamas with a high roller tournament. The event attracts numerous players from all over the world. The main event, which has a buy-in of $10,300, will be held from January 7 – 14, 2014. The PCA will comprise a total of 39 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $100k.

The EPT will then return to Europe and stop at Deuville, where it will be merged with the France Poker Series (FPS). The festival will therefore have two Main Events, one for FPS and another €5,300 buy-in EPT Main Event, which will begin on January 26.

The EPT will conclude after stopping at Austria, Sanremo, and Monte Carlo. The Austrian leg of the EPT will be held from March 19 – 29, 2014. The Main Event of the Sanremo leg of the EPT will be held from April 14 – 20. The EPT Monte Carlo will feature the €10,600 buy-in Main Event, in which the biggest prizes of the tournament series will be given year. Last year’s EPT champion was Steve O’Dwyer, who won a large prize of €1,224,000.

The 8th season of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) will begin on Jan 10 with the 20th anniversary of the Macau Poker Cup and will comprise a Main Event with a guaranteed prize of $1 million. The tour will also include the Aussie Millions Poker Championship for the first time.

Another big event is the World Poker Tour (WPT), which will begin with the Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship, a five-day tournament offering a $3 million guaranteed prize. This year, the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open will be held from February 7 – 12 in the Seminole Casino in Florida.

The WPT will next stop at Niagara Falls in Ontario, where Canadian poker players can grab an opportunity to win large WPT prizes. The WPT Fallsview Poker Classic Main Event, which has a buy-in of CA$5k, will be played from Feb 22 – 24. The California leg of the WPT will begin on Jan 17, and the first event will be the $75 buy-in Facebook Exclusive Tournament, which has a guaranteed prize pool of $30k.

Needless to say, lucrative poker events such as the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), the World Series of Poker (WSOP), and the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) will also be returning this year.
